I've even had one tell me they would prefer to see the dogs die in the shelter than go to a rescue outside the L.A. area. <br />I used to find their tyrades amusing. They are "white noise" and matter so little to me. However, recently an incident ocurred that was not amusing. They've taken it up a notch:<br />A one eyed puppy at a county shelter was in bad shape. No one was coming forward. A Canadian rescue offered to take him. Meanwhile a sizeable donation was collected for this pup. Interest in this puppy increased. When the puppy was being picked up for the transport, there were "self appointed rescue police" present screaming at the transporter to leave the pup to a local rescuer. It got so chaotic one of the ACT's yelled at these idiots and told them "there are plenty more puppies in here, why don't you go get one!". They of course, did not. <br />Meanwhile, at another shelter, this same Canadian rescue had another transporter saving more puppies to go on the same transport. Someone anonymously called this shelter and told them that a one eyed pitbull puppy was being abused by this rescue transport. (The puppy wasn't even at this location. He was still being processed.) The ACT's that went out to investigate, would not allow the tranporter to unload the pups from his truck while they did their investigation. After two hours the ACT's finally left. 4 of the puppies were sick from the heat in the truck and perished. The "self appointed rescue police" cost these puppies their lives.<br /><br />We need to bear in mind, these people are not in charge. They have no authority. We do not have to "report" or "answer" to them. We need to reduce them back to "white noise" and go about the business of saving lives. The animals want us to seize every opportunity to keep them from having to leave this life through "the back door". <br /><br />Thank you Robert, for all that you do for the animals. Bravo.
